The purpose of this fire safety training is to equip participants with the skills necessary to avoid fires, evaluate flames appropriately, coordinate people evacuations, and ensure everyone is safely accounted for in the case of an uncontrollable fire.
The participants of this wind technician training should be able to effectively put out a first fire utilizing simple handheld firefighting equipment if the scenario was determined to be safe.
Target audience:
Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields, and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or an offshore wind structure.
Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks.
The aim of the course:
The aim of this fire safety training is to give the delegates the basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to prevent fires. This training for wind turbine technicians teaches making appropriate judgments when evaluating a fire, managing the evacuation of personnel, and ensuring that all are safely accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire. If the incident is judged to be safe, the delegates should be able to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic handheld firefighting equipment.
The FAW Module as a part of Basic Safety Training and full GWO certification is required almost without exceptions for all wind turbine jobs. It is included in both the GWO BST Onshore and GWO BST Offshore courses.
