IRATA Rope access Technician - Level 1

Level 1 – This is a rope access Technician who is able to perform a specified range of rope access tasks under the supervision of a Level 3 rope access safety supervisor. He/she is:

a) able to understand and follow the rope access procedures, method statements and associated risk assessments;
b) responsible for pre-use checks of his/her own rope access equipment;
c) able to assist in rigging and other operations, under the guidance of a higher grade;
d) able to undertake a simple rescue in descent and assist in rescue operations.

Target audience:

Personnel working or willing to work in the rope access industry or related fields needing to obtain their IRATA Level 1 technicians certificates.

The aim of the course:

The aim of the course is to give the participants the necessary basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to use IRATA International rope access methods and comprehensive basic rescue from ropes to provide a safe system of work.

Suitability of candidates for training:

Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course. To work safely in rope access requires those engaged in the work to have an appropriate attitude and aptitude. A good level of fitness and physical capability is also required.
