GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) standard has been prepared in cooperation with GWO members basing on risk assessments and statistics on accidents and incidents during the installation, service and maintenance works on wind turbine generators and wind power plants.
The aim of the GWO Basic Safety Training is to provide the Delegates with theoretical and practical knowledge about hazards related to working on a WTG, how to control and mitigate such hazards, as well as provide knowledge and skills necessary to respond correctly in case of emergency and to promote safety by using PPE, emergency equipment and procedures.
Upon successful completion of the training, the GWO members consider the trained person to be competent to stop an unsafe work situation, and such trained person is accountable for safety. All information regarding the trained person and the respective certificates can be accessed via GWO database WINDA.
