The GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) standard has been prepared in cooperation with Global Wind Organisation members. It based on risk assessments and statistics of accidents and incidents during the installation, service and maintenance works on wind turbine generators and wind power plants.
GWO BST is crucial and required training for wind turbine technicians with any role.
The aim of the GWO Basic Safety course is to provide the Delegates with theoretical and practical knowledge about hazards related to working on a WTG. This safety training for wind turbine technician explains how to control and mitigate such hazards. It also provides knowledge and skills necessary to respond correctly in case of emergency and to promote safety by using PPE, emergency equipment and procedures.
Upon successful completion of this health & safety training course, the GWO members consider the trained person to be competent to stop an unsafe work situation. The basic safety training certificate means that its owner is accountable for safety.
All information regarding the trained person and the respective certificates can be accessed via GWO database WINDA.
