Important Update on GWO Training Standards

Important Update on GWO Training Standards
11.03.2026

Global Wind Organisation (GWO) has introduced several updates affecting training standards and refresher training.

Key information for trainees and certificate holders:

  • The GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Refresher Standard has been discontinued.
Refresher training requirements are now described directly within the respective modules of Version 20 of the Basic Safety Training Standard.
  • The GWO Refresher Standards have been discontinued in general. Refresher requirements are now integrated within each relevant training module.
  • In Basic Technical Training (BTT) Version 11, the former BTT Installation module (BTTI) has been replaced by two modules:
    – BTTI Mechanical (BTTI-M)
    – BTTI Electrical (BTTI-E)

Valid BTTI records issued before 10 March 2026 will automatically be converted into both modules in WINDA.

  • Single Rescuer modules (SART-H and SART-N) are being integrated into Advanced Rescue Training modules (ART-H and ART-N).
  • A 6-month transition period applies. SART certificate holders must complete ART refresher training before 10 September 2026 to maintain valid certification.

These changes are intended to simplify the training structure and align certification requirements with the current industry’s needs.
